My Hardware

Current Hardware:

ZeusZeus

Zeus is my main desktop machine. I built him in August 2008, but the original motherboard broke, and it took me about 3 months to get a replacement. The new motherboard has almost exactly the same spec, it is just from a different maker and supplier.

Spec:

  • Processor: AMD Phenom quad 2.66 GHz
  • RAM: 2GB
  • Graphics: Nvidia 9500GT with 1GB of GRAM
  • Monitors: 1 19″ widescreen TFT monitor
  • Keyboard: Logitech G11
  • Storage: 1 80 GB os HDD, 1 250 GB data HDD
  • Operating System: Switch between Crunchbang Statler, Arch and Ubuntu. All different Linux distros

Zeus is named after the Father of the gods, in greek mythology. He is the second computer in the greek mythology line of my computers. He is also the very first computer that I bought completely on my own. I plan, in the future, to extend the number of monitors, add a bit more RAM, and get a new mouse for him.

Morpheus

Morpheus

Morpheus is my netbook – a Lenovo Ideapad S10e. I bought him 2 months ago, from ebuyer.com, for £180. He was on special offer, but the offer is over now, so don’t get upset when you can’t find it :P .

Specs:

  • Processor: Intel Atom 1.6GHz
  • RAM: 1GB
  • Graphics: Intel GMA 950
  • Monitor: 10.1″ glossy screen
  • Storage: 80 GB HDD
  • Operating Systems: Ubuntu 10.10 UNE or Jolicloud 1.1 depending on how I’m feeling

Morpheus is the Greek god of dreams, in Greek mythology. He is a fantastic netbook, currently with the 3-cell battery gets about 2.5 hours battery life, which is not too bad. It is nice and light, but the keyboard is still 95%, so is a nice size for my fingers.

Poseidon

Poseidon is my mobile phone. He is an HTC Desire. I got him in October of 2010.

Stats:

  • Dimensions:

Poseidon was the Greek god of the sea and of earthquakes. There really is no reason I chose this name, other than I like it :P

Others:

  • 40GB “fat” PS3 called Agon – the greek spirit of contest (because he is a games console…)
  • My file server is called Hermes – the messenger of the Gods (because he is a server…)
