So, this is the second time in a row that I forgot to write a tech predictions post. I’m not going to make any promises about future posts. I plan to write some more, but promising doesn’t seem to make anything happen (just check the last few of my posts).
So, let’s get going with some predictions for 2017.
- Apple will remove the home button from the iPhone.
This is something that has been long rumoured, and we all know that they like to remove as many buttons as possible from their devices.
- The Nintendo Switch has no backwards compatibility for 3DS or Wii U at launch.
It will have virtual console for everything the 3DS and Wii U have, but there will be no way to play 3DS or Wii U games on it at launch. However, it’ll still be very successful.
- Google launch phone network somewhere other than the USA
Some of you will know that Google run a mobile network called Project Fi, which connects to 2 different mobile networks, depending on which is the stronger one. They will expand the project to another country.
- Yahoo’s sale will not go ahead
Due to the recent explanation of the 2 massive hacks, Verizon decides that means they can’t buy Yahoo. Instead, Yahoo goes into administration and sells of parts of it.
- Google launches a smartwatch
Google are fed up with how few companies are making smartwatches, and they really believe in these products. They will launch their own smartwatch (Pixel Watch, anyone?).
- Twitter gets bought
I don’t know who will do this, but I think 2017 is the year it’ll finally happen. I know that I hope it is Google, and I know what I hope they will do to it. But more likely is some media company who won’t do good things to it. Maybe Verizon will buy Twitter after they decide not to buy Yahoo
